Danish Ambassador to Tehran Anders Christian Hougaard met with Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi in Tehran on Monday at the end of his term.

Sarmadi referred to the "excellent" and "long-standing" relations with Copenhagen and called for expansion of cooperation with Denmark "at the EU level," IRNA reported.

Pointing to the recent nuclear agreement between Iran and the P5+1 (the US, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany), he said, "The prospects for developing relations between the two countries have improved and we expect that in the new atmosphere (created by the nuclear breakthrough), cooperation on major projects in economic, cultural, scientific and academic fields will be put on the agenda."

Sarmadi appreciated efforts by the Danish envoy during his five-year mission in Iran and wished him success.

Hougaard submitted a report on his efforts to improve bilateral ties and briefed the deputy foreign minister on plans for elevating the level of mutual ties in political, economic, commercial, cultural and academic domains.
