Repetitive Charges

A Foreign Ministry official said Bahrain makes “repetitive” and “baseless” accusations against Iran about creating tension in the region. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham made the remark in response to Manama’s claims that Iran is meddling in its internal affairs, Press TV reported on Sunday. “Such unconstructive methods will not harm Iran’s strong will and determination to stick to a responsible... policy against extremism and terrorism,” she said.
Tensions have been running high between Tehran and Manama recently. On Saturday, Bahrain recalled its ambassador to Iran in protest at Tehran’s support for a pro-democracy movement in the Persian Gulf kingdom.
Earlier this month, Bahrain summoned Iran’s ambassador to Manama over similar claims.
