The advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on international affairs underlined the need for expansion of “wide-ranging” and “long-term” relations between Tehran and Moscow, stressing that the two countries can increase effective cooperation to help resolve “regional and international problems.”  The director of the Center for Strategic Research of the Expediency Council, Ali Akbar Velayati, made the remarks in a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Iran Levan Jagarian, IRNA reported on Monday.  He pointed to the presence of Iran and Russia in some regional countries and said cooperation with Iraq and Syria has been based on the requests of the Arab countries, while “reactionary countries in the region” train and equip terrorists and send them to operate in regional countries.
