A Lebanese presidential candidate sees good prospects for Tehran-Beirut relations in view of the recently struck nuclear agreement between Iran and major powers.
“There is nothing to prevent relations with Iran being restored to their best level, especially when relations between western and Arab countries with Iran have entered a very important stage and their ties are growing,” Michel Aoun, a former Lebanese army commander and now a politician and leader of the Free Patriotic Movement, told IRNA in an interview published on Sunday.
“There is no reason to object to expansion of Tehran-Beirut relations unless there are some covert considerations that the Lebanese government is not able to ignore, and of course in the coming days things will become clearer.” In addition, he predicted that the nuclear settlement will positively affect developments in Lebanon.
