A new domestically manufactured radar system will become operational soon, the commander of the Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base told journalists on Sunday, ISNA reported.
Lieutenant General Farzad Esmaeili said the new system, which is being installed in Tabas, South Khorasan Province, is a “strategic radar”, adding, “God willing, the radar will be unveiled on September 1 on the occasion of National Air Defense Day.”
On the features of the defense system, he said, “The radar has an operational range of about 1,000 kilometers and is able to detect small flying objects, ballistic and semi-ballistic missiles and wide-body aircraft.”
