The advisor to the Leader on international affairs underlined the role of the Supreme National Security Council in examining the recently reached nuclear deal with major powers.

“The council is the highest authority to make decisions about major issues relating to the country’s security, whether domestic or international. And its decisions should be signed and endorsed by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution,” Ali Akbar Velayati told journalists on Wednesday, IRNA reported. “Important strategic matters are thoroughly discussed at the council comprised of heads of the three branches of government, some ministers such as foreign and defense ministers and commanders of various military forces.”
