The foreign ministry spokesperson has condemned the international community’s indifference toward the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Syrian town of Kobane, which is the target of Islamic State militants’ full-scale onslaught, saying Iran is to send aid for Syrian Kurds living in the region.

“Iran is about to dispatch a package of humanitarian aid for the residents and refugees in the region through the Syrian government.” Marzieh Afkham said.

She warned of the disastrous situation in Kobane and stressed the need to support the people and government in Syria in their battle against terrorists.

Reuters reported on Tuesday that Islamic State fighters advanced into the south west of Kobane overnight taking several buildings to gain attacking positions from two sides of the city. The Syrian Kurdish town had been under siege for three weeks.
