The deputy chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said it is not the appropriate time to criticize the performance of the nuclear negotiators, calling for increased support to lift the spirits of the negotiating team to help them resolve the dispute over Tehran's nuclear program.

Mansour Haqiqatpour advised the critics not to disturb the concentration of the negotiating diplomats in a situation when few days are remaining before the July 7 target date to reach a final agreement to meet national interests, ICANA reported.

The lawmaker noted that the critics' concern about preserving the nuclear achievements is understandable, assuring that the negotiators are careful to observe the red lines set by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

In related remarks, Chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi referred to the one-week extension of the ongoing nuclear talks, which were to expire on June 30, saying both sides to the negotiations have welcomed the extension, which is an indication of the firm resolve of the negotiating parties to clinch a final deal.

Boroujerdi echoed statement by senior authorities that they only support "a good deal."

Spokesperson for the parliamentary commission Nozar Shafiei said sealing a final agreement could be seen as "an end to a long period of grappling with soaring costs for both sides."

He described the current situation in the nuclear talks as an "historic opportunity" and said unless the opportunity is used properly, a new round of costly tensions would emerge.

The legislator also asked the negotiating parties to act based on goodwill and mutual respect, urging them to avoid interfering in one another's internal affairs and make use of each other's capacities.
