Iranian foreign policy and international relations experts started a two-day joint meeting with members of the European Council on Foreign Relations on Monday at the foreign ministry’s Institute for Political and International Studies, IRNA reported on Monday. The move in the area of public diplomacy is aimed at forging closer relations with Western research centers and think tanks and promoting mutual understanding between the Islamic Republic and Western countries. The European Council on Foreign Relations had recently issued a report advising European governments to use the opportunity provided by the interim nuclear deal between Iran and the major powers, which was signed last November in Geneva, and set the stage for increased economic relations with Iran through lifting sanctions.
