Iran denounced a Saudi airstrike on an office of the United Nations in Yemen, reiterating Tehran’s call for the cessation of Saudi attacks against the impoverished Arab country. “Saudi Arabia’s attacks on the infrastructure and non-military targets, as well as the killing and injuring of civilians (in Yemen) constitute a blatant and continuous violation of human rights,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said on Tuesday, Press TV reported. On Sunday, Saudi fighter jets targeted the office of the UN Development Program in the southern Yemeni city of Aden. Afkham expressed concern over the deterioration of humanitarian situation in Yemen, calling for the facilitation of humanitarian aid to the war-affected people. United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Monday urged an investigation into the airstrike on the UN compound.
