Leader’s advisor on Muslim world affairs Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri offered condolences on the behalf of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the Iranian people to the Kuwaiti emir, government and nation on the recent deadly terror attack in the Persian Gulf Arab state.

The senior cleric made the remark in a Monday meeting with Emir of Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in Kuwait, IRNA reported.

A suicide bomber carried out a deadly attack on a Shia mosque in Kuwait City on Friday. The so-called Islamic State militant group claimed responsibility shortly after the attack, which killed 27, including two Iranians, and wounded 227.

It was the first suicide bombing at a Shia mosque in Kuwait and worst militant attack in the Arab country in many years.

Condemning the attack, Ayatollah Taskhiri expressed hope that Middle East nations would unite “to cut off the hands of those who seek to provoke insecurity and hatch plots in the region.”

“Islam is the religion of love and sympathy, and violent and extreme acts contradict its values and doctrines, and only serve to fuel the activities of the enemies of Muslims and humanity,” he noted.

The emir thanked the Leader and nation for their expression of sympathy and reciprocally expressed condolences to Iran on the incident.

He also appreciated the presence of Iranian authorities in the memorial service for the victims.
