Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was due to arrive in Vienna early today to join the ongoing talks between Iran and the major powers on a final deal to resolve the long-running standoff over Tehran’s nuclear work, IRNA reported. Deputy Foreign Ministers Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht-Ravanchi have been in the Austrian capital since June 17 for the current round of talks. Iran and the major powers face a June 30 deadline to work out a comprehensive deal which would place temporary constraints on Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief. US Secretary of State John Kerry was expected to join the talks on Friday. A diplomatic source also told Reuters on Thursday French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius would travel to Vienna on Saturday to take part in the negotiations.
