US Focused on Deadline

The United States is set to reach a final deal with Iran by the June 30 deadline for a long-term settlement to Tehran’s nuclear dispute, US State Department spokesperson John Kirby said on Tuesday during a press briefing. Commenting on the report that the US administration is under pressure from its allies to extend the date, he said “We’re still focused on June 30. And I’m not aware of any external pressure being applied to us or anybody else to extend,” according to the website of the state department. He added, “I think… getting the right deal is better than the deadline itself. Deadlines are good forcing functions. We still are driving toward June 30.”
