Beijing hopes that all parties to the Iran nuclear talks will pay attention to and reasonably resolve concerns, avoid interference and make a timely political decision to help secure a comprehensive agreement on Iran’s nuclear program on schedule, said a Chinese envoy on Tuesday.

Wang Min, China’s deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, made the remarks at a UN Security Council meeting on non- proliferation, Xinhua reported.

He said all parties have demonstrated a strong political will for an early comprehensive agreement by extensively negotiating on the text of the agreement as the deadline of June 30 approaches fast.

Wang said the preliminary understanding reached between Iran and the P5+1 (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) in Lausanne in early April marked a major breakthrough in the negotiations and laid a solid foundation for a comprehensive deal in the next stage.

“As a major party to the negotiations, China has always played a constructive role in moving forward the negotiations with a just and objective position,” said Wang.

“China will continue to take an active part in the negotiations and will work tirelessly for a comprehensive, long-term, proper solution to Iran’s nuclear issue.”
