The first deputy Majlis speaker praised the Yemeni nation for their resistance against the Saudi-led military campaign and once again voiced the Islamic Republic's support for the oppressed Yemeni people.

Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabifard made the remarks in his address to a meeting between lawmakers and a group of Yemeni combatants in Tehran on Saturday, ISNA reported.

Pointing to the glorious history of the war-ravaged Muslim country, Aboutorabifard said the Yemenis are a "great" and "wise" nation who joined the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) shortly after the advent of Islam and backed him.

The senior lawmaker said in their great political history, the Yemeni people have always been a symbol of resistance against oppression, expressing hope that unity among the war-hit nation would be strengthened as a result of efforts by the figures who are leading the Yemeni uprising with a view to obtaining "favorable" results.

"The movement of the Yemeni nation is an effort to clarify their objective, namely the confrontation with the dominating regimes headed by the US and Zionist regime," he noted, adding that the Arab country's residents are struggling against coercion by turning to the "true principles" of Islam.

He said the fact that Saudi intruders have not been able to take a single step toward achieving their objectives after three months of brutal attacks against Yemen indicates that Yemen is indeed the real winner of the war.

"Political analysts have reached a consensus that Saudi Arabia has been defeated in this war, " he said, stressing the nations across the Muslim world including Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Bahrain and Syria will back the Yemeni nation in their struggle against violence.

Saudi Arabia and its allies started a military campaign against Yemen on March 26, without a UN mandate, in an attempt to weaken the Houthi Ansarullah movement and reinstate the fugitive president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.
