Former VP Backs Gov’t

Former vice president Mohammad Reza Aref defended the performance of the administration of President Hassan Rouhani, saying the reformists have supported the government, which is faced with a difficult situation.

“In view of our understanding of the difficult situation facing the government, we have always stood by the government, and I have personally defended the performance of the Rouhani administration, although we are aware of weaknesses and shortcomings,” Aref said in a meeting with political science professors and students in Tehran on Sunday, IRNA reported.

“We will spare no effort to help the government.”

On the Feb. 26, 2016 parliamentary election, Aref said high voter turnout will guarantee “the progress and development of the country, the resolution of problems and the victory of  reformists.”
