Iran has put on display new homemade military hardware including a rocket system and a tactical vehicle.
Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said "The Falaq (Twilight) rocket launcher system is an efficient ground combat weapon which can fire rockets in rapid succession.”
"High mobility on a variety of terrain, rapid deployment and firing and the ability to conduct special operations," are among other features of this system," the minister pointed out, the Mehr news agency reported.
The official also described the system’s capability to target enemy positions within a radius of 10 kilometers as one of the unique features of the Falaq.
The pieces of military hardware were unveiled during a ceremony at Iran’s Defense Industry Organization on Thursday.
A 8x8 tactical vehicle was also on display which according to the defense minister is capable of carrying various launchers, missiles, radars, rockets and command posts.
“This vehicle is equipped with a protection system used in modern warfare,” Dehqan said.
The defense chief added by manufacturing such systems and vehicles the country's needs for heavy military machinery will be met.
Tehran has repeatedly reiterated that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence and its military capabilities pose no threat to other nations.
