In the context of the E3+3’s efforts to complete work toward a comprehensive, long-term solution to the Iranian nuclear issue, EU Political Director Helga Schmid and Iranian Deputy Foreign Ministers Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht-Ravanchi were scheduled to meet in Vienna on Wednesday, according to a press release by the European External Action Service issued on Tuesday.

E3+3 stands for France, Germany and Britain (three European countries) as well as the United States, Russia and China, which are also known as the P5+1. The six major powers are in talks with Iran to reach a deal by a June 30 deadline to resolve the 12-year standoff over Tehran’s nuclear program.

“They will be joined by E3+3 political directors later this week. Technical experts from the E3/EU+3 and Iran will also meet in parallel as of (Tuesday) to continue the work on the technical annexes,” the press release said.
