Norway Ambassador in Tehran Aud Lise Norheim met Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani on Monday to discuss expansion of bilateral ties, ICANA reported.

The Norwegian envoy expressed interest and resolve on part of the Scandinavian country’s authorities to improve ties with the Islamic Republic in such fields as energy, fishing and agriculture. “Norwegian companies are highly fond of increasing the level of collaboration and enhance transfer of knowledge and experience with Iranian parties,” Norheim noted.

Commenting on the ongoing crises in the Middle East, she called for joint actions with Iran to combat extremism and send humanitarian aid to Syria to help boost regional stability and prevent a humanitarian catastrophe.  The speaker outlined various areas for political cooperation with Oslo, especially in relation to parliamentary interactions.  On regional developments, Larijani voiced regret over the fact that the UN’s anti-terror efforts have failed to stop terrorist groups’ brutal killing of Muslims and Christians in Syria, calling on Norway to provide aid to the displaced people in the war-torn Arab country.
