Former VP Detained

A deputy to former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Hamid Baqaei, was detained on undisclosed charges on Monday, the spokesperson for the judiciary announced.
“The inspector in charge of the case of the former vice president (for executive affairs) summoned and detained him (less than an hour) ago,” Hojatoleslam Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei was quoted by IRNA as telling reporters, refusing to give any details about Baqaei’s charges that led to his detention.
Another top official of the previous administration, former first vice president Mohammad Reza Rahimi, had also received a five-year sentence and been fined 362,000 dollars over corruption in January.
