President Hassan Rouhani praised the Syrian nation for putting up resistance in the campaign against armed militants, stressing that Iran “will stand by the Syrian government and people until the end of the road.” Undoubtedly, in the fight between right and wrong, right will emerge victorious, and we are sure that foreign countries will not be able to impose their conditions on the Syrian nation,” Rouhani said in a meeting with Syrian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham in Tehran on Tuesday, IRNA reported. “The Syrian people have been gripped by an unwanted war waged by certain countries and terrorist groups, but if a nation has the required will, they can stand up against complicated plots.” He added, “Unfortunately, some regional countries make a miscalculation and suppose terrorist forces are always tools in their hands to achieve their objectives, but sooner or later terrorism will plague them.” The Syrian speaker, for his part, thanked the Islamic Republic for its backing for the Arab country, saying, “The Syrian government and nation will never forget the support by the brotherly and friendly Iranian nation.”
