Vice President for Executive Affairs Mohammad Shariatmadari told the Mehr news agency on Tuesday that Afghanistan’s new President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, former president Hamid Karzai, and Prime Minister Abdullah Abdullah have been invited to visit Iran.
Shariatmadari, who was talking about his Monday’s visit to Kabul where he attended the inauguration ceremony of the new Afghan president, also said Iran supports the new national unity government in Afghanistan. He said in his meetings with Afghan officials, he expressed Tehran’s support for stability and peace in the “friendly” and “brotherly” country of Afghanistan.
Discussions were also held on the great potential for expansion of cooperation between the two countries, he added.
