A senior security official has called the Zionist regime the major threat to the world.
Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Shamkhani made the remarks in a meeting with leaders of Palestinian groups in Syria on Tuesday.
He stressed the need for increased unity among Muslim countries to counter the escalating threat of the Zionists and said, "It should not be overshadowed by peripheral issues". The SNSC secretary reiterated, "We are honored to pay political and security prices for our support of the Islamic resistance and will strongly follow this policy," IRNA quoted him as saying. The Palestinian leaders briefed the security chief on the latest developments in the occupied territories.
In the second leg of his regional tour to the Middle East, Shamkhani heading a political and security delegation arrived in Damascus on Tuesday and met with Syrian President Basher al-Assad, Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi, and the head of Syria's national security council, Ali Mamlouk.
