Police Chief Lieutenant General Hossein Ashtari underlined the need to take measures to improve interaction between the law enforcers and the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee to deal with critical issues facing the society, including “security challenges”.
Spokesperson for the committee Hossein Naqavi Hosseini said the police chief attended the meeting of the committee on Sunday to give a report to the lawmakers on the activities of the force and its future plans, IRNA reported.
During the session, Ashtari called for enhanced relations between the two bodies in an effort to better maintain security, especially in border areas, and organize the next parliamentary election on February 26, 2016, among other areas for cooperation, urging other state organizations to collaborate with police and parliament to help them achieve the objectives, said Naqavi Hosseini.
According to the lawmaker, Ashtari said the police’s agenda is based on the guidelines of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on addressing the internal problems of police and the main causes of social insecurities such as drug dealing and theft.
