Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei agreed to pardon/commute prison terms for 102 prisoners found guilty by military courts, IRNA reported on Sunday. The decision was made on the occasion of Eid Sha'baniyah (birth anniversary of the 12th Imam of Shia Muslims, Muhammad al-Mahdi) and the anniversary of the liberation of Iran's southern port city of Khorramshahr during the 1980-88 Iraqi-imposed war. Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani had earlier submitted a request to the Leader requesting the amnesty.
