The foreign ministry spokesperson strongly denounced a deadly bomb attack on a Shiite mosque in Saudi Arabia.

Marzieh Afkham called for immediate measures to indentify and punish the perpetrators of the terrorist attack, according to a foreign ministry press release sent to Financial Tribune.  She also said, “Campaigning against terrorist and extremist groups, avoiding acts of adventurism and putting an end to inflicting irreparable damage on the nations in the region are essential steps that should be given priority.”

A suicide bomber killed 21 worshippers on Friday in a packed Shiite mosque in eastern Saudi Arabia, Reuters reported.

It was the first attack in the kingdom to be claimed by Islamic State militants.
