The senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution arrived in Beirut on Monday to hold talks with Lebanese officials, including Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Tammam Salam, IRNA reported. Upon arrival in Beirut, Ali Akbar Velayati told reporters that it is up to the Lebanese people to resolve their problems.
“In view of the Lebanese people’s stellar record regarding democracy, I am hopeful that they will be able to elect their desired president in the near future.” Velayati said he is scheduled to meet some Lebanese officials to discuss relations between Tehran and Beirut and exchange views about regional and international developments.
