US President Barack Obama praised the positive role played by Oman’s Sultan Qaboos bin Said that had led to an initial agreement with Iran on its nuclear program. It was the sultan’s sincere efforts that had led to progress in negotiations with Iran in various stages of the nuclear talks, the Times of Oman quoted Obama as saying in a recent meeting with Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Omani deputy prime minister for the council of ministers, in Washington on the sidelines of a meeting between the US president and top-level representatives of Persian Gulf Arab states at Camp David. Sayyid Fahd led the sultanate’s delegation to the Camp David summit on behalf of Sultan Qaboos.
