Need for Regional Convergence

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said in view of the fact that terrorist groups are threatening the security and stability of all the countries in the region, “convergence” among regional countries is essential to be able to confront the terrorists.  Berri made the remarks in a recent meeting with Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Fathali, ISNA reported on Friday.  The senior lawmaker also pointed to the nuclear talks between Iran and the major powers, expressing hope that the sanctions against the Islamic Republic would be lifted under a prospective deal, noting, “Certain groups are exerting considerable political pressure to scuttle the negotiations.”
