US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov exchanged views about the international diplomacy aimed at resolving the dispute over Tehran’s nuclear program in a meeting in Sochi, Russia, on Tuesday, according to a press release posted on the website of the US State Department.

In a joint press conference after the meeting, Kerry said, “We discussed Iran, where Russia and the United States and our other P5+1 partners (Britain, France, China and Germany) are working very hard through the nuclear negotiations with Iran.”

“We are now coming into the last six weeks of those negotiations. And we all understand that unity has been key to bringing us where we are today. It is also going to be the key to completing a good deal and to our being confident that that deal will be able to be well-implemented,” he said, adding, “The United States and Russia remain closely aligned in this effort, as do the rest of our P5+1 allies and friends, EU partners.”
