The deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs said Iran has made "a strategic decision" to fully support Syria in its fight against terrorism until it victoriously passes through the current crisis.
In a meeting with a group of Syrian activists in Tehran on Tuesday, Hossein Amir Abdollahian referred to efforts by the Syrian nation and army in the campaign against armed militants as well as the policies adopted by Syrian leaders as "the main factors in resistance against a great deal of conspiracies" against the Arab country, IRNA reported.
The senior diplomat also congratulated the Syrian nation on the recent advances made by Syrian armed forces in the Qalamoun region and in the northern parts of the country. "In the same way the Syrian nation foiled the plots of their enemies both in the political arena and in the battlefield, through preserving their unity and integrity, they will not let the enemies achieve their goals through psychological warfare," he noted.
The Syrian activists, in turn, praised Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, President Hassan Rouhani and the Iranian nation for their "unwavering support" for the Syrian people and government, saying they are proud of being backed by the Islamic Republic. They also criticized "destructive" and "anti-Islamic" measures against regional states by some Arab countries.
