Iraq Deputy PM Seeks Support

Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Saleh Muhammed al-Mutlaq requested regional countries to support Iraq and its territorial integrity, warning of efforts to split the Arab country.
“Such a move (the disintegration of Iraq) will only increase problems and instability in the region,” he said.
Mutlaq made the remarks in a meeting with Ambassador to Iraq Hassan Danaeifar, IRNA reported on Monday.
He said establishing security in Iraq is “a regional and international responsibility”, adding that his country is ready to fight terrorism on behalf of the world. The two officials also discussed the ways to expand bilateral relations. The Iranian envoy, for his part, said Tehran opposes any plan that calls for the breakup of Iraq and “turning it into a weak country.”
