Ex-KRG Official, Deputy FM Confer

Barham Ahmed Salih, former prime minister of Iraq’s Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), and Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian discussed the latest developments in Iraq and the region in a meeting in Tehran on Sunday, according to a foreign ministry press release sent to Financial Tribune. Amir Abdollahian underlined the importance of efforts to promote “national unity and cohesion” in Iraq through the “balanced involvement” of all groups in the country’s political system.  He also highlighted Iraq’s important position in the region and said establishing security and stability in the crisis-hit country is the key to ensuring the security of the region.  Salih, for his part, thanked Iran for supporting the Iraqi people in the current difficult situation.
