A senior military adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution said on Sunday Saudi Arabia is fighting “a proxy war” in Yemen, Mehr news agency reported. “The war that has been started in Yemen by the Saudis is a proxy war on behalf of the United State, the Zionist regime and their European allies,” Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi said. “They no longer enter the battlefield themselves, but get some countries or some terrorist groups to act as their proxies,” he said, adding, “Over the past 15 years, the plans and objectives of the Europeans, the Zionists and the Americans have been to attack Muslim countries and nations and introduce Islam and Muslims as a new threat to replace the threat of the former Soviet Union and Communism.”
