A senior diplomat said Iran backs all Iraqi people, including Shiites and Sunnis, in the fight against terrorism. “Tehran strongly supports Iraq in the fight against terrorism,” Press TV quoted Hossein Amir Abdollahian, deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs, as saying on Thursday.
He also called on all countries in the region to join forces and collectively provide security for the region. “Tehran regards the insecurity of each of the countries in the region as the insecurity of (the whole) region and will actively continue its constructive role in the establishment of lasting peace and security,” Amir Abdollahian said.
“Iran welcomes effective cooperation and consultation with regional countries” for establishing security in the region, he added.
