A delegation of lawmakers led by Kazem Jalali left Tehran for Brussels on Tuesday to meet officials of the European Parliament (EP), IRNA reported. The trip provides a good opportunity for the lawmakers to exchange views with EP officials on bilateral ties as well as regional and international issues. The meetings can help illuminate Iran’s principled stances and eliminate barriers in the way of improving relations. The trip is part of reciprocal visits between the Majlis and the European Parliament. A European parliamentary delegation visited Iran last December for discussions with Iranian officials.
After President Hassan Rouhani took office in 2013, the European Parliament showed interest in expanding relations with the Iranian Parliament and promote bilateral ties.
