Principlists Seek Unity

Three major principlist groups held a joint meeting with the aim of achieving unity, especially for the Feb. 26, 2016 parliamentary election, IRNA reported on Monday.  Representatives of the Islamic Coalition Party, the Resistance Front and the Society of Devotees of the Islamic Revolution attended the meeting which was hosted by the latter group.  The participants in the meeting discussed the current political situation and underlined the need to forge “maximum unity” among principlists “based on tenets and at all levels.”  The attendees also stressed the necessity of following the guidelines of top principlist leaders, namely, Ayatollah Mohammad Yazdi, chairman of the Assembly of Experts, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Movahedi Kermani, secretary general of the Combatant Clergy Association, and Ayatollah Mohammad Taqi Mesbah Yazdi.
