A Norwegian parliamentary delegation comprising of eight MPs is scheduled to visit Tehran on May 5, IRNA reported. The two-day tour is conducted upon the invitation of the chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi. The visiting delegation is planned to meet with Boroujerdi and other senior officials. After taking office the Rouhani administration has reached out to the outside world to restore normal ties on the basis on reciprocal interest. The move is seen as a marked departure from the tense relations between Tehran and the West during the tenure of former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Rouhani has often told visiting foreign leaders and dignitaries that his foreign policy is based on normal and if possible cordial ties with the world, especially with countries that were unfriendly and hostile toward Iran in the past for a variety of reasons. Pundits opine that the long-awaited nuclear deal between Tehran and the so-called P5+1 will facilitate normalcy to relations between the Islamic Republic and the international community.
