UNSC Resolutions Will Be Terminated Soon

President Hassan Rouhani said UN Security Council sanctions resolutions against Iran will be terminated in the near future.
“Thanks to the guidelines and support of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the negotiators’ ability to assert logically, all illegal sanctions resolutions of the Security Council against Iran will be annulled soon,” he noted.
Rouhani made the remarks in a public address in the provincial capital Shiraz on Wednesday during a trip to Fars Province, IRNA reported.
Praising the efforts by the nuclear negotiating team, which is in New York for a new round of negotiations, Rouhani said the nation should be proud of their nuclear experts and diplomats.
On the effects of lifting sanctions on economy, Rouhani said after sanctions are removed, Iran will open the door to the import and export of goods in an effort to boost the economy.
He added that the government has already managed to curb inflation and stimulate GDP growth, “even as sanctions are (still) in place.”
After intensive negotiations in the Swiss city of Lausanne, Iran and the six major powers known as the P5+1 (the five permanents members of the UNSC plus Germany) reached a mutual understanding on the outline of a final nuclear accord on April 2.
A provision of the preliminary agreement read, “A new UN Security Council resolution will endorse a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA – the official name of the final nuclear deal), terminate all previous nuclear-related resolutions, and incorporate certain restrictive measures for a mutually agreed period of time.”
