Smuggling a Major Challenge

Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani described the smuggling of goods, particularly fuel, across borders as a “major challenge”, emphasizing that the required measures should be taken to make border areas “insecure” for smugglers.
The senior lawmaker made the remarks in his speech at a gathering of police commanders and officials in Tehran on Saturday, IRNA reported.  “No one should feel it is easy to (smuggle goods) near borders, and arrangements should be made to create insecure conditions for the people who seek to smuggle goods,” Larijani said, adding that parliament has included provisions in the annual budget to help police step up the campaign against smuggling.
