The spokesperson for EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said on Saturday that the six major powers would continue diplomatic efforts with the aim of securing a comprehensive nuclear deal with Iran by the November 24 target date. Michael Mann also said, “Significant differences remain to be resolved on core issues.” Pointing to the most recent round of nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) which ended with no significant progress in New York on Friday, he said, “Contacts during this week helped to develop some ideas which will be studied further.” The major powers held high-level talks with Iran to “show commitment to negotiated solution” to the dispute over Tehran’s nuclear program, he said on Twitter.
