Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met and conferred with Russian and Chilean foreign ministers in New York on Saturday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting.
In the meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the two ministers exchanged views about the nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members and Germany) and the 4th summit of the Caspian Sea littoral states, which is set to open today in Astrakhan, the Fars news agency reported.
They also underlined the need for the continuation of negotiations on a comprehensive deal to resolve the dispute over Tehran's nuclear program.
Zarif also held a meeting with Chilean Foreign Minister Alfredo Moreno, in which the two officials discussed Iran-P5+1 talks, terrorism and extremism, and the opportunities to promote bilateral cooperation.
They described political consultations between the two countries as significant and expressed readiness to cooperate in various fields such as mines, agriculture, technology, and management of water resources.
They also called for the exchange of parliamentary delegations.
Zarif held talks with a large number of prominent political figures during his one-week stay in New York.
He also attended two trilateral meetings with US Secretary of State John Kerry and EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton in New York as part of the seventh round of high-level talks between Iran and the P5+1 on a final nuclear deal, which was held from September 19 to 26.
