The deputy foreign minister said maintaining “national unity and cohesion” is a key factor which can help Iraq come through the “current critical situation” safely.
Hossein Amir Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with Secretary General of Iraq’s Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU) Mohammed Faraj Ahmad Aziz in Tehran on Sunday, according to a foreign ministry press release.
He also said Iran attaches high importance to stability and security in Iraq, reaffirming Tehran’s full support for the Iraqi government and nation in their campaign against terrorism.
“The principled policy of Iran in Iraq is backing the country’s unity and territorial integrity, good neighborliness, and helping promote stability and security there.”
