The deputy commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said there is no need for Iran’s military presence in Yemen as the Arab country’s army and the rebels that cooperate with it possess the required capabilities.

“The fact is that Ansarullah and the Yemeni people and army have joined hands today and their deep resistance has covered a vast area and they do not need Iran in terms of equipment and training,” Lieutenant General Hossein Salami said in a televised interview, IRNA reported on Sunday.

Elsewhere, he pointed to western calls for the inspection of Iranian military facilities as part of a prospective nuclear deal and said, “The issue is so important that I believe that we should not allow anyone to even think about it.”
