In a meeting in Nakhchivan on Monday, Border Police chief Lieutenant General Qassem Rezaei and Chief of State Border Service of Azerbaijan Republic Lieutenant General Elchin Guliyev discussed cooperation between the two countries’ border guards, IRNA reported.
In the meeting, which was also attended by border officials from the provinces of West Azarbaijan, East Azarbaijan, Ardabil and Gilan, the protection of security along the border, the joint campaign against illicit drug trafficking and goods smuggling, and the threats posed by terrorist and extremist groups operating in the region were discussed.
The two sides also agreed to organize sporting and cultural events and visits between the two countries’ border guards to help promote “amity” among them.
