Pakistani General Raheel Sharif underlined the need for increased cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad to improve security along the joint border.
The Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army made the remarks in a meeting with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Islamabad, IRNA reported on Friday. Pointing to the developments in the region, especially in Iraq, Syria, and Yemen, he called for “greater coordination” to address terrorism and extremism.
Zarif, for his part, explained Iran’s proposal to help resolve the Yemeni crisis, noting, “This solution includes an immediate ceasefire, the provision of humanitarian aid, particularly food and medicine and helping the injured, the creation of Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue, and the establishment of an inclusive government.”
