The navy’s 34th fleet, comprised of the Bushehr support vessel and the Alborz destroyer, set sail for the Gulf of Aden and the Bab-el-Mandeb strait on Wednesday, Fars news agency reported.
The fleet is tasked with protecting the security of shipping lanes especially for Iranian commercial ships and oil tankers and the interests of the Islamic Republic in the open seas during its three-month mission.
The navy’s 33rd fleet returned home on the same day after sailing for about 80 days in the Indian Ocean and international waters in Southeast Asia.
