Iraq Seeks Closer Relations

Iraqi President Fuad Masum hailed Iran’s support for the Iraqi nation and government since the beginning of the crisis in the country.
Masum pointed to the willingness on the part of his people and government to increase ties with Iran, “as it has stood by Iraq ever since the tension reached its peak (in the country),” noting that his government is not politically dependent on any foreign country.
“(An effective fight against terrorism) demands (greater) resolution and also cooperation among countries through sharing intelligence information,” Al-Nahar Iraq TV quoted him as saying, IRNA reported.
He also underlined the necessity of holding conferences to help raise awareness on terrorism to prevent its spread.
