Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi said the nuclear talks between Iran and the major powers are going in “the right direction.”

The senior nuclear negotiator made the remarks in a meeting with his Finnish counterpart Peter Stenlund in Tehran on Tuesday, according to a foreign ministry press release.

Takht-Ravanchi voiced hope that Iran’s international negotiating partners would take steps to pave the way for striking a final deal to resolve the long-running dispute over Tehran’s nuclear program through “gaining a better understanding of the realities and making difficult and necessary decisions.”

Elsewhere, he expressed pleasure with the increase in the level of political consultations between Tehran and Helsinki and the start of a “new chapter” in bilateral relations.

The Finnish diplomat has travelled to Iran to hold “political consultations” with Iranian officials.

The Finnish official, for his part, said Helsinki is keen to exchange parliamentary delegations and increase cultural ties with Iran.
