Thomas Feist, deputy chairman of the Germany-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group, called for increased “political consultations” between Tehran and Berlin.
“As a member of the parliamentary friendship group, I want political consultations between Iran and Germany to be increased based on mutual trust,” he said in an interview with IRNA published on Sunday.
“We are keen on improved relations between Iran and Germany, and increasing contacts between the two countries’ people can be helpful in this regard,” the German lawmaker said, stressing closer cooperation on scientific and research projects.
On Iran’s regional role, Feist said, “Iran is still an important player in the Middle East,” praising the country for its efforts to promote stability in neighboring Afghanistan.
